Hosmer Announces Awards for Two Rieslings

Hosmer Winery is pleased to announce the recent awards given to our 2020 Semi-Dry Riesling and 2020 Dry Riesling from the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association (ASWA).

Hosmer 2020 Semi-Dry Riesling was recently awarded a Gold Medal from the ASWA. This wine is comprised of Riesling lots from all over our estate vineyard. It is described as having “a stone fruit-driven nose of peach and nectarine leading to apricot skin on the midpalate. Mint and a lightly bitter kumquat finish this delectable wine.”

Hosmer 2020 Dry Riesling received a Bronze Medal and is described as having a nose of rose petal and lime blossom, leading to a taught midpalate of lime pith with a long and lightly tropical finish. This wine is a blend of Riesling lots from the “Challen” and “Lower Shop” blocks at the North end of our vineyard.

The 16th Annual Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition took place on August 14 and August 15, 2021, with a total of 484 entries.

About Hosmer Winery

With a vineyard established in the early 1970s, Hosmer Winery opened its doors in 1985 on the west bank of Cayuga Lake on the principle that great wine begins in the vineyard. We farm 70 acres of 14 different grape varieties on the family estate. Primarily vinifera, our vines are 30 to 35+ years old, growing on deep Cazenovian soils. The quality of wine that is captured in our bottles is a direct product of our pristine vineyards and thoughtful growing practices. As a full estate winery, we are able to ensure the quality of every grape, from the roots to vine to wine.
