Details for International Women’s Day Celebration Announced

Women of the Vine & Spirits has announced program details for its annual free and public event, Raise Your Glass for Equality Toast, to be held virtually on International Women’s Day.

The annual celebration is set for 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PST on March 8 and will be filled with music, fun and dedications from around the globe in support of equality and International Women’s Day (IWD), uplifting this year’s theme #BreakTheBias.

“As an organization working year-round to further diversity, equity and inclusion in the alcohol beverage industry, we want to take a moment to celebrate and honor the incredible achievements that have been made,” said Founder & CEO of Women of the Vine & Spirits Deborah Brenner. “While we have so much more work to do. Join us on March 8 as we raise a toast to acknowledge how far we’ve come and re-commit ourselves to taking action. Collectively, we can all #BreakTheBias.”

Women of the Vine & Spirits was founded in 2015 and has been the catalyst for women’s empowerment, and diversity, equity and inclusion movements in the wine, beer and spirits industry. The organization is made up of thousands of members from around the globe and its Corporate Membership is comprised of more than 160 companies dedicated to spearheading change both internally and externally to create a better industry for all.

Kicking off this year’s event is keynote speaker Ann Mukherjee, Chairman & CEO of Pernod Ricard North America. The first industry outsider and woman of color to assume the position, she has demonstrated from day one her ability to advance through ambiguity, while delivering both ROI and ROR (return on responsibility). Ann is unafraid to put resources behind the cultural issues that matter most to the people and communities the company and its brands serve. Ann has been recognized among Forbes’ Top 50 Most Influential CMOs; named Marketer of the Year by Brand Week; and earned an ADCOLOR Legend Award. She has also been nominated for Wine Enthusiast’s Person of the Year and PRWeek’s Most Purposeful CEO.

“International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate all that we have accomplished as women so far, as well as inspire and uplift one another to keep climbing,” said Mukherjee. “I am looking forward to coming together to ‘Raise a Glass for Equality’ with women and men from around the world. It is through coming together as a community, and women owning their power, that we can start to create positive change.”
